TSUBOMI — The Bud of Love & Peace
A button joins two separate pieces of fabric into one. With that idea in mind, I have continued to paint BUTTON FLOWER with the hope of blooming flowers that connect people to people, and hearts to hearts. Yet even now, news continues to reach us of a world where people clash with one another and hearts are set against hearts. I do not believe that my paintings can erase sorrow or anger from the world. Still, I wonder if I can at least plant a small seed. And if that seed can grow and someday bloom into a flower, that would be enough.
For this design, I painted a heart-shaped bud beneath two BUTTON FLOWERs. This bud represents childrenthose who will one day bloom into great flowers. For the sake of a future where people around the world can live with smiles, I hope not only adults, but children as well, can come to understand its meaning. Two BUTTON FLOWERs and one TSUBOMI. These three are family, friends, and companions. If we can share these feelings and pass them on, a world filled with LOVE & PEACE will surely arrive. Believing this, I will continue to paint and to sow small seeds.
