SHUN SUDO collaborated on the Spring & Summer 2023 collection with tao, a brand that had entered its third season after changing its name from tricot COMME des GARÇONS.
SUDO created Button Flower based on the idea that a button—“which fastens two separate pieces of fabric into one”—can symbolize bonds and hope for the future. Designer Tao Kurihara resonated deeply with this philosophy, leading to the realization of this collaboration. Combining tao’s distinctive designs—characterized by the inventive use of ribbons and the tying together of numerous fabrics, as well as a balance of delicacy and quiet strength—with SHUN SUDO’s overflowing positive energy, the collection was unveiled as a powerful expression of their shared sensibility.
